Unfriendly Fire From Left
MSM
Malcolm A. Kline
In World War II and even into the Cold War, academics, journalists and politicians tempered their criticism of American foreign policy with a concern for U. S. troops serving in harms way. Sixty years later, men and women in U. S. military combat fatigues can count on no such sympathy from American elites.

Nonsense ‘Survey’ Says Americans ‘Struggling in Life’
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
How about I ask you if you “feel” like you make enough money each year? Let’s say you make $48,000 a year, OK? (That’s the median household income in the US) You’ll likely tell me, then that you “feel” you need more. Now, from this, can I conclude that you are “struggling in life” as a citizen of the USA? Not if you use actual data instead of “feelings” to determine what “struggling” means and not if you then try to add context to what we all have compared to what others in the world have, of course. But, this is exactly the sort of nonsensical “survey” that Reuters gravely warned us about this week. Without bothering with any statistics or context, Reuters excitedly reported that “Many Americans struggling in life, survey finds"(1), and decided that everyone is downtrodden and filled with “suffering” in the United States today.

CBS Slights Limbaugh any Credit for ‘Operation Chaos,’ Also Talk of Riots With Obama Loss
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
It’s amusing how far some people will go not to give someone credit for something they have done especially if that deserving someone happens to be an ostensible political enemy. In this case we find CBS discussing Republican crossover voters in these primaries, the network newser telling us how crossovers will “skew primary results,” and then they tell us who is responsible for egging on these crossovers. Now, for those of you in the know, you’d automatically assume that CBS is talking about radio host Rush Limbaugh who has been carrying on his “operation chaos” program to encourage Republican voters to re-register as Dems to vote for Hillary, right?

Is Hard Work ‘Asian Values,’ No Longer American Values? Hardly!
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
I always find it amazing when writers in the mainstream press seem to have so little knowledge of America and its history. Of course, I suppose that being blissfully ignorant of US history does help paper over their betrayal, substituting the feeling that they can maintain allegiance to American “ideals” as they attempt to advocate for the sort of socialist/communist vision that they want America to become, quite despite its true character and principles. Heck, if you don’t know you are betraying your own country, you can’t be ashamed of yourself for it, right? In any case, here we have another prime example of such a betrayal by The New York Times’ Thomas Friedman from his May 4 piece(1) where he has decided that America is finished, done, kaput. And guess what? It’s all George W. Bush’s fault—shocking, I know.

Two Recent Success in WOT You Didn’t Hear About in the Media
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
The Taliban suffered a big loss in Pakistan/Afghanistan this month and so did al Qaeda in Iraq, but the MSM has been practically silent on these great successes. It only goes to show that the media is so completely sold on the claim that the war is lost that they aren’t interested in doing any real reporting on the war.

A Culture of Corruption: The News Media
MSM
Jim Kouri
During a segment of Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, former CBS TV newsman now media critic, Bernard Goldberg, stated clearly and consisely, “The news media are corrupt.” His fellow guest Jane Hall, formerly of the L.A. Times and now a respected journalism professor concurred.

Unfair and Unbalanced
MSM
Selwyn Duke
The phrase “fair and balanced” certainly has a positive connotation. It is thought the greatest quality a news outlet can possess; it has even become a motto of the Fox News Network. Yet I don’t find Fox very balanced at all.

Sci. American Uses all Anti-Republican Examples to Show ‘How Media Messes With Your Mind’
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
This report by Scientific American is a hoot for its blatant hypocrisy. With the title of their piece, “Getting Duped: How Media Messes With Your Mind(1)”, it appears that Scientific American is trying to set itself up as the bringers of truth to all those confused by the “surreptitiously” misleading media. Their piece is ostensibly a warning on how the ‘media’ is misleading us all. Their subtitle even declares how they are about to tell us of the media’s misconduct.

How the Media Pick the Candidates
MSM
Cliff Kincaid
Whatever you think of Ron Paul, you have to admit that the media are notoriously biased against him. The Fox News Channel unfairly excluded him from its January 6 debate, while MSNBC and CNN tried to keep him from speaking for any significant length of time during their January 24 and January 30 debates. This is a candidate, we must recall, who placed second in the Republican Nevada caucuses on January 19, beating John McCain.

‘Al Franken’s Mental Disorder Given a Pass by Media?’
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
Comedian Al Franken is running for the U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota, this the media is happy to report. But, for some unexplainable reason, the media isn’t so interested in reporting Franken’s odd behavior. It seems that an ungovernable rage is always just under the surface with Franken, a rage that has several times broken free and resulted in assault and other violent or antisocial behavior. Why the media doesn’t highlight this man’s unstable behavior can only mean that they are lending him as much cover as they can to assist his campaign.

News Media Should ‘Regulate’ New Media/Bloggers
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
In another arrogant piece from a “professional” journalist claiming that Internet journalism is “dangerous,” one where the writer imagines that he is somehow the personification of truth in “reporting,” we get yet another screed on the theme that ‘they’ are the only ones that should be allowed to be called “journalists.” And this one is a hoot, too. In an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former journo and current professor David Hazinski seems to imagine that it’s the job of the “news industry” to “monitor and regulate” the content of blogs and Internet journalism. No, I’m serious, he really said that! This self aggrandizing piece is so filled with blind assumptions and presumptuous pap that it quite literally boggles the mind.

The Disgrace of CNN’s Nancy Grace
MSM
Carey Roberts
At the recent Democratic debate in Las Vegas, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer lobbed softball questions at Hillary Clinton. Then he allowed the audience to boo Hillary’s opponents - a callous breach of debate etiquette. And when it came time for the audience to grill the candidates, Blitzer deceptively introduced the questioners as “ordinary people, undecided voters.”

Is it News or Chinese Propaganda?
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
There has been study after study proving the leftward tilt of the American media establishment, so the constant denials by that same media sounds increasingly absurd and hard to believe. But, it is one thing to have people who truly believe their own ideology is the best guide for the future and base their honest actions on that belief and quite another to act unethically in pursuit of their professions. Unfortunately, there seems far more of the later these days than the former. And here is just another example of the later to dishearten all of us.

Times Admits Hsu Fund-Raising Scandal Not Being Covered by MSM
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
On September 7th we noticed that the scandal in the Democrat Party over illegal campaign donations was barely getting any coverage(1) in the print media and the internet. Well, apparently, TV news isn’t doing any better still. It’s so obvious, even the juggernaut of the left, The New York Times(2), has taken note of how few network news reports have aired on the Hsu scandal… though not making a big deal of it, naturally. The news media is doing their level best to deep six the story to benefit Hillary, it seems. If the Hsu fits, anyway. (Do I have to explain that his name is pronounced “Shoe” in Chinese for that joke to work? I sure hope not.)

George Clooney: Serious Political Thinker at Large
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
Sometimes, after you read a story from the MSM, you have to sit back and say to yourself, “just what in the heck that was all about?” Such is the case with the AP’s latest titled “Clooney: Obama’s like a rock star,"(1) a story that seems to present George Clooney’s political opinion as if he is somehow a respected policy wonk, political pundit, or a well-known intellectual. There is no pretext for this story presenting Clooney’s political meanderings and no sensible reason why the AP is presenting his blather as news. The AP just presents it straight forwardly as if it is somehow news we all just need to know. All in all, it is an amazing report for its senselessness, cluelessness, and pointlessness. On the other hand, it fits to a tee with the APs editorial position on politics and the world and this fact alone surely accounts for its publication.
