The Disgrace of CNN’s Nancy Grace
MSM Carey Roberts

At the recent Democratic debate in Las Vegas, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer lobbed softball questions at Hillary Clinton. Then he allowed the audience to boo Hillary’s opponents - a callous breach of debate etiquette. And when it came time for the audience to grill the candidates, Blitzer deceptively introduced the questioners as “ordinary people, undecided voters.”   More...

Is it News or Chinese Propaganda?
MSM Warner Todd Huston

There has been study after study proving the leftward tilt of the American media establishment, so the constant denials by that same media sounds increasingly absurd and hard to believe. But, it is one thing to have people who truly believe their own ideology is the best guide for the future and base their honest actions on that belief and quite another to act unethically in pursuit of their professions.  Unfortunately, there seems far more of the later these days than the former. And here is just another example of the later to dishearten all of us.   More...

Times Admits Hsu Fund-Raising Scandal Not Being Covered by MSM
MSM Warner Todd Huston

On September 7th we noticed that the scandal in the Democrat Party over illegal campaign donations was barely getting any coverage(1) in the print media and the internet. Well, apparently, TV news isn’t doing any better still. It’s so obvious, even the juggernaut of the left, The New York Times(2), has taken note of how few network news reports have aired on the Hsu scandal… though not making a big deal of it, naturally. The news media is doing their level best to deep six the story to benefit Hillary, it seems. If the Hsu fits, anyway. (Do I have to explain that his name is pronounced “Shoe” in Chinese for that joke to work? I sure hope not.)   More...

George Clooney: Serious Political Thinker at Large
MSM Warner Todd Huston

Sometimes, after you read a story from the MSM, you have to sit back and say to yourself, “just what in the heck that was all about?” Such is the case with the AP’s latest titled “Clooney: Obama’s like a rock star,"(1) a story that seems to present George Clooney’s political opinion as if he is somehow a respected policy wonk, political pundit, or a well-known intellectual. There is no pretext for this story presenting Clooney’s political meanderings and no sensible reason why the AP is presenting his blather as news. The AP just presents it straight forwardly as if it is somehow news we all just need to know. All in all, it is an amazing report for its senselessness, cluelessness, and pointlessness. On the other hand, it fits to a tee with the APs editorial position on politics and the world and this fact alone surely accounts for its publication.   More...

Wall Street Journal Lies About Sea Treaty
MSM Cliff Kincaid

If and when Rupert Murdoch starts cleaning house at the Wall Street Journal, he ought to take a hard look at Neil King Jr., who has an article in the August 22 issue that completely misleads readers of the paper about the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), coming before the Senate next month. The thrust of the article is that the treaty is one of the most wonderful things in the world and that everybody is backing it except for a few conservatives.   More...

Media Highlighting Republican ‘Culture of Corruption’ Ignoring Dems Troubles
MSM Warner Todd Huston

Well, the L.A.Times certainly followed the Democratic National Committee’s stylebook for reporting the News with this one, it is obvious. In a story about the new “sweeping ethics bill"(1) making its way through Congress this week, they mention all the Republican corruption they can dredge up, but somehow miss every single Democrat example of the same. They also misreport a Nancy Pelosi rules change that makes it seem as if she is a corruption fighter when the truth is that she backed off from the very rule the Times cites as an example of how “ethical” the House is! This one is a perfect example of partisan, agenda driven “reporting,” for sure.   More...

CBS Hails ‘Landmark’ and ‘Historic’ Federal Control of Health
MSM OffSite

Wednesday’s CBS Evening News trumpeted two liberal efforts to expand government power, leading by heralding “landmark legislation” to have the FDA regulate cigarettes followed by a story slanted in favor of, as reporter Thalia Assuras described it, an “historic expansion of health care coverage for children” of the “working poor.”   More...

MSM Highlight GOP ‘Defections’, Ignore Dems Voting Against Their Own
MSM Warner Todd Huston

We are seeing all over the MSM the reports highlighting the Republicans in the House and Senate who are turning away from the Party line and voting against—or at least seeming to vote against—the President’s Iraq war policies. The MSM is presenting this revolt as a momentous thing, unprecedented and presenting it as a loss for the President’s ideas. Yet, even as a small number of Republicans have, indeed, voted against the Party line, an even larger number of Democrats are voting against ‘their’ Party, too. Yet, somehow, we are not hearing this being brought up by the tongue waggers and controversy-mongers in the MSM.   More...

Rush Limbaugh: Regulate the ‘Drive-By Media’
MSM OffSite

With recent suggestions by some in Congress to bring back the Fairness Doctrine to the radio industry, talk-show host Rush Limbaugh suggests the only way to have true fairness is to regulate what he calls the “Drive-By Media.”   More...
