Releasing Wolves Among Sheep, Freeing the Guantanamo Detainees is Just Plain Wrong
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
Since the opening of the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detainee facility in 2002, the Bush Administration has been under constant pressure to close the facility down. The existence of this facility is looked upon as an embarrassment to “freedom,” “liberty” and western ethics by its detractors and has served as a focal point of the anti-war movement the world over. Those against the facility maintain that it does more harm than good in our efforts against Islamofascist terror – if, that is, they even believe there is a problem with such terrorism in the first place. In any case, they want the thing closed down, the prisoners therein either remanded to civil authorities or released, and “civilized” people to denounce the entire concept.

‘Islam America’s ‘Greatest Strength’?’
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
Outrageously, Newsweek has published a so-called “special report"(1) in which Muslim Americans are called “one of this country’s greatest strengths,” but, Newsweek worries, that they are now “vulnerable as never before.” Yes, America, as far as Newsweek is concerned it is YOU, not Islam, that is the problem and therein lies the main reason why the west seriously misunderstands the war in which we are engaged, and why we could lose it.

Rarer than Rabies: The Legacy of Michael Nifong
Bird-Brain Flu
Carey Roberts
Soon after prosecutor Michael Nifong was disbarred by the North Carolina Bar Association, the National District Attorneys Association issued its take on the case. “Nifong’s case is rarer than human rabies,” claimed Joshua Marquis, vice president of the group. “The defense bar is piling on and trying to claim this is typical behavior,” he bitterly complained.

Jumping To Foregone Conclusions
Bird-Brain Flu
J.J. Jackson
On Monday I was reading about a study which supposedly shows that American individualism hinders our ability to understand others. Now the counter claim in this study is that collectivist societies (communist, socialist, etc.) help people that live under them understand others better and take into account their “point of view”. This is a polite way of saying, “You damn Americans are the reason there are problems in the world! You don’t understand our point of view!”

Professing the “Faith” of Musli-Piscopalianism?
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
Janet Tu, religion reporter for the Seattle Times, recently came out with a mind-boggling story. She chronicles the odd pronouncement of the Reverend Ann Holmes Redding(1), an Episcopalian priest from Seattle, who has decided that she is ‘both’ an Episcopalian ‘and’ a Muslim.
