‘Is this still America?’
Elitists
Carolyn Hileman
You may not discuss immigration on a radio show, but you can burn an American flag. You may not read about immigration on a blog or forum, but you can if you are illegal stand in the streets and demand your rights. You as an American citizen cannot demand that our borders be secure, but if you are an illegal immigrant you can demand that the raids be stopped. Now I may be wrong here, but last time I checked we lived in America and were afforded freedom of speech and unless I am wrong that was given to us by our forefathers, not Trent Lott and the senators and congressmen wishing to silence us.

MSM Highlight GOP ‘Defections’, Ignore Dems Voting Against Their Own
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
We are seeing all over the MSM the reports highlighting the Republicans in the House and Senate who are turning away from the Party line and voting against—or at least seeming to vote against—the President’s Iraq war policies. The MSM is presenting this revolt as a momentous thing, unprecedented and presenting it as a loss for the President’s ideas. Yet, even as a small number of Republicans have, indeed, voted against the Party line, an even larger number of Democrats are voting against ‘their’ Party, too. Yet, somehow, we are not hearing this being brought up by the tongue waggers and controversy-mongers in the MSM.

Jumping To Foregone Conclusions
Bird-Brain Flu
J.J. Jackson
On Monday I was reading about a study which supposedly shows that American individualism hinders our ability to understand others. Now the counter claim in this study is that collectivist societies (communist, socialist, etc.) help people that live under them understand others better and take into account their “point of view”. This is a polite way of saying, “You damn Americans are the reason there are problems in the world! You don’t understand our point of view!”

Democrats Overtly Support Terrorists against US Citizens
Demercrats
Sher Zieve
Just when we thought Congress could not become more demented - it has. As the Democrat-run Senate and House of Representatives are experiencing their lowest approval rating in recent recorded history (Zogby polling ranks said approval at only 14%), with the stroke of 2 pens Democrat leaders have removed provisions from legislation that would have protected US citizens from being sued for reporting potential terrorist activities. This is the latest addition to the ever growing Democrat Death Wish List that its leaders have been preparing since taking Congressional leadership in 2006. In this latest fiasco, leader of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) stripped out the provision that would have allowed limited immunity for reports of witnessed suspicious behavior. Reps. Peter King’s (R-NY) and Steve Pearce (R-NM) had drafted the ‘John Doe Protection Amendment’ after the infamous Flying Imams simulated airline hijacking behaviors.

Nobel Laureate Calls for Bush’s Death at ‘Peace’ Conference
Progressivism
Warner Todd Huston
Before I tell you how the Dallas Morning News is breathlessly reporting that Nobel laureate Betty Williams called for the death of President Bush at the “International Women’s Peace Conference” in Dallas on the 11th, I must remind you all that peace activists on the left are far more “civilized”, “Humane”, “tolerant”, and “intelligent” than the rest of us. OK? I just wanted to get that straight before further relating this story.

What Has Happened to Cal Thomas?
Medical BS!
Christopher Adamo
Few Americans, back when first subjected to the insipid banalities of Jimmy
Carter, presumed him to be a deliberately malignant force striving to wreak
horrendous harm on the country. Rather, he was perceived as a naive imbecile
who had merely gotten in over his head after falling into the presidency in
the wake of Nixon, Watergate, and the lackluster administration of Gerald
Ford.

The Dim Bulbs of Leftism
Progressivism
Bruce Walker
Rachel Alexander at Intellectual Conservative recently posted a wonderful note about the desperation of the Left in coming up with anything bad about Fred Thompson. His lovely wife, the mother of two of his children, an attorney who had a successful career before marrying Fred, a woman who is over forty is touted as Thompson’s “trophy wife.” Rachel rightly notes that if this is the best that the Left can come up with to slime Fred Thompson, then 2008 looks like it could turn out to be great.

Taxing the Joy out of Life
Big Brother

With exquisite irony, the box in which my favorite cigars arrive has a picture of the White House emblazoned on its cover and, underneath, the words, “Casa Blanca.” I smoke Presidentes, a Dominican Republic handmade cigar. They are identified as a “luxury cigar.” Given the current cost of the two boxes I enjoy every month that is an apt description.

Balkanization of America Accelerating
Immigration

A hundred years ago, President Teddy Roosevelt said, “The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing as a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.”

In All Fairness
Demercrats

There are a lot of things out there that have the potential to bring down this great nation of ours. International terrorism. A weak dollar on the international market. The Spice Girls getting back together. At times like these, we look to our leaders in Washington to do something, and Democrats in Congress are doing something.

True Grit: Winning the Hearts and Minds of Al-Qaida

I wonder if John Wayne is glad to be dead. If he were alive, I imagine our impotent politicians’ apologizing to the public about Iraq would kill him. Seems like America’s once-triumphant spirit endured through our unrelenting grit and hunger to prevail. Such perseverance remains a prerequisite to all success. Sadly, our new breed of representatives has no familiarity with the hunger necessary to win a war. Do you think our barbaric enemies suffer the same dilemma?

Santorum More Visible Than Ever
Progressivism
Kevin Roeten
Many remember Rick Santorum’s loss to Bob Casey(D) in the last senatorial election in Pennsylvania(59-41%). Santorum was castigated for his stance on homosexual marriage, abstinence, abortion, and especially for his pro-active stance on the Iraq war. It might even be remembered that three weeks into Bob Kerry’s term in congress, Kerry made the statement “Santorum - that’s Latin for ‘a-hole’.” It’s not likely this is the first time someone has been grossly misjudged.

Perez Hilton Fans Unite
Elitists
Bernard Chapin
This morning my Mozilla start page opened up to a link of a featured video from The View in which the hosts purportedly went after some blogger for one reason or another. I clicked on it but honestly was not familiar with their sacrificial lamb, Perez Hilton, before doing so. Yet The View is a show I know quite well as it is a toxic societal cesspool and the perfect embodiment of the self-absorption and narcissism that so afflicts and debilitates the essence of so many modern women. If its hosts were going to roast young Mr. Hilton then I thought I would respond by providing a testament to their bias and irrationality.
