Supremes Arrogance
Judicial Activism item by Guest: Geoff Metcalf

"Th’ abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power. --William Shakespeare It is not the place of the California Supreme Court (or any court) to MAKE law.

Californians, Take a Lesson From Nebraska
Judicial Activism item by Guest: Doug Patton

Watching another hijacking of the people’s will, this time by four arrogant judges on the California State Supreme Court, one cannot help but contemplate the future of the institution of marriage in America. In case you missed it, that august body has invented a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, thereby reversing a ballot initiative approved by 61 percent of the voters.

‘New Yorkers Are Smarter Than Other Americans’
Elitists item by Warner Todd Huston

Speaking as a Chicagoan, I get my “second city” dander up every time I hear people who live in New York City patting themselves on the back and blathering aloud about how much better they are than the rest of us peons in flyover country. Usually this sort of arrogant bravado is reserved for New Yorkers talking to other New Yorkers, at least, usually seen as the sort of talk one would hear at the corner bistro or what one might encounter listening to what passes for conversation at highbrow dinner parties. So we don’t often see such self-congratulatory nonsense outside local New York media. While it isn’t seen so often in publications that serve the nation, Smithsonian Magazine(1) has decided to give New York dance critic Joan Acocella the platform of their publication to tell us all how cool she thinks New York is and how people there are just naturally smarter and better than everyone else everywhere in the country… if she, a resident of New York City, does say so herself.

Obama Furious with the Truth - again
Elections item by The New Media Alliance(NMA): Sher Zieve

Presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama is furious - or feigning fury - with the truth again.  This time it is over a statement made by President George W. Bush.  The statement made by the president to Israel’s parliament last week included chastising those who continue to call for some types of appeasement to the world’s enemies and included the warning:  “As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is - the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

WaPo irresponsibly smears Middle America
MSM item by Guest: Ari Kaufman

The media narrative on the primaries in Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia hinted that racism was the reason why Obama lost. There are plenty of Hoosiers, Keystoners and Mountaineers who won’t take that charge lying down.

Saving Arctic Plant Species from Climate Change
GreeenIsm item by Guest: Dennis T. Avery

The Norwegian government is building its high-tech new Global Seed Vault on the Arctic island of Svalbard to protect the world’s plant varieties in case of global climate change. Meanwhile, outside the Svalbard vault, the island’s own hardy Arctic plants are demonstrating that Mother Nature knows how to keep her species alive through natural adaptation to the earth’s naturally radical climate cycling.

Professor Sues Students For Doubting Hairbrained ‘Theories’
EdukShun item by Warner Todd Huston

She claims that her students violated her civil rights. She says student’s “anti-intellectualism” made her life a living hell. So, this ex-Dartmouth professor is threatening to sue her students for the temerity to have doubted her hairbrained theories on “ecofeminism” and the “French narrative theory.”

Labor-Liberal Incest
Progressivism item by The New Media Alliance(NMA): Thomas E. Brewton

Malformed progeny of the Socialist International are intent upon bastardizing civilization.

The Nightmare We Call Our Schools
EdukShun item by Alan Caruba

A friend of mine recently wrote to me saying, “My wife is retiring in June after thirty years of teaching. A high school degree means nothing. No Child Left Behind is an even bigger joke. It is a scary situation that could lead us to third world status, but we are prepared for that since we already teach English as a second language.”

Unfriendly Fire From Left
MSM item by Accuracy In Media: Malcolm A. Kline

In World War II and even into the Cold War, academics, journalists and politicians tempered their criticism of American foreign policy with a concern for U. S. troops serving in harms way. Sixty years later, men and women in U. S. military combat fatigues can count on no such sympathy from American elites.

Obama’s Excremental Economics
Bird-Brain Flu item by The New Media Alliance(NMA): Thomas E. Brewton

As prolongation of the 1930s Depression and stagflation in the 1970s demonstrated, Senator Obama’s announced policies are a prescription for economic disaster.

Teach Your Kid How to Sense BS
EdukShun item by Doug Giles

"One of the most salient features of our culture is there is so much bull----.” Harry G. Frankfurt, Princeton philosophy professor How many of you have met the book smart 4.0 magna cum laude lady who, in regard to street smarts, is a magna dumb loopy chick? What about the poor honey who is neither book nor street smart? What a shame, eh? My goal for my girls is for them to own the twain. My wife and I push our daughters to academic excellence; we insist that they strain their brains so they won’t sound like Paris Hilton when they open their mouths.

Nonsense ‘Survey’ Says Americans ‘Struggling in Life’
MSM item by Warner Todd Huston

How about I ask you if you “feel” like you make enough money each year? Let’s say you make $48,000 a year, OK? (That’s the median household income in the US) You’ll likely tell me, then that you “feel” you need more. Now, from this, can I conclude that you are “struggling in life” as a citizen of the USA? Not if you use actual data instead of “feelings” to determine what “struggling” means and not if you then try to add context to what we all have compared to what others in the world have, of course. But, this is exactly the sort of nonsensical “survey” that Reuters gravely warned us about this week. Without bothering with any statistics or context, Reuters excitedly reported that “Many Americans struggling in life, survey finds"(1), and decided that everyone is downtrodden and filled with “suffering” in the United States today.

‘Is Obama Smarter Than a 5th Grade Jaywalker?’
Elections item by Guest: Doug Patton

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has an indicted, Syrian-born Chicago shyster named Tony Rezko for a financial mentor. He has a screwball, race-baiting, America-hating pastor named Jeremiah Wright for a spiritual mentor. He has an unrepentant domestic terrorist named William Ayers for a political mentor. And he has one of the angriest wives ever to aspire to the position of First Lady.

Fish vs. Men in the Supreme Court
GreeenIsm item by Ayn Rand Institute: Thomas Bowden

Irvine, CA--Forty percent of America’s energy comes from 550 electric power plants whose massive turbines and reactor cores are cooled with billions of gallons of water from nearby rivers, lakes, bays, and oceans.
